housing units

LOWELL -- ...Following extensive negotiations,
officials with the Boston-based Architectural
Heritage Foundation (AHF) -- which will
undertake the endeavor -- have signed an
agreement to buy the Cambodian Mutual Assistance
Association of Greater Lowell's headquarters
building at 165 Jackson St. for an undisclosed
price.
AHF project manager Fred Phillips said the
foundation expects to formally buy the
building "within the next two or three months."
The plan is to convert the long, narrow
structure into 52 apartments that will be
renovated according to federal historic
standards and connected to a new 900-space,
$21.5 million parking garage ...
CMAA Executive Director Vong Ros ...
"We have the option to stay at least until
February," Ros said. "We have a couple sites
that we're looking at now. We want to stay in
the proximate area. Lower Highlands is
preferable."
